3rd Topic Discussion - Erika Chong

From your personal experiences and research, what other media stereotypes (besides the example from the documentary "Reel Bad Arabs") have you seen either on TV, magazines or in the movies?

Hollywood has been one of the greatest murderers of the decade, for killing good images of asians in their movies. As I watched the documentary, it reminds me of how much Hollywood has influenced people across the world to lose their own culture due to attracted to this Hollywood culture.

Not only from Hollywood, but from magazines too. In the magazines, we can see everyday models wear less clothe day by day. But do we need to follow them? Fashion is one thing, wanna-be is another story to tell.

From television, we see movies where people have sex before marriage, man have another woman other than his wife and etc. I believe all these movies are a great factor to leading higher abortion rate and divorce rate. People tend to have a 'it is ok' mindset.

Therefore, everyone should know what is on the TV or in the movies aren't exactly what it is like in reality. In reality, you need to work hard to get what you want, and fairy tales aren't true.
