Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it? If yes, why? If no, why? Discuss this in your own words.

Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it? If yes, why? If no, why? Discuss this in your own words.

Sometimes information that achieved from true internet and sometimes also information that achieved was forged. And information that achieved from internet is characterized by false and sometimes characterized by defamation. Many resources from article designed from irresponsible party ,After build one article ,the certain people will be spread the information for satisfaction they.In fact ,they also use internet to find profit wrong beside law.

When article resources false this disseminated in internet ,many people that does not be careful believe that source. It also can be effected to individuals ,family ,society, and world.Political situation can we look as example ,some party champion respective ideologies for upper hand.Fugginess, they also gave opportunity when some individual use internet to distribute article characterized by false.

Sometimes articele from the internet true ,but some people have to sensitive when facing this situation.Don't credulous something article from internet without solid proof. We must be wise in tackling this situation.

What? Who? Really? Sure? Where? You got to be kiding!OH MY............ (wk 4)

The existence of the Internet has brought forth a million and one reasons why we ought to love it and as well as a million and one reasons why we should wish it should never has existed.
One thing I can definitely say are one the reasons the people love it is because of its ability to share news and information to everyone that has access to the Internet.

Everything we need or want to know is just a click away. Instant, fast and in whatever style you want, ready for you to choose.

HOWEVER...
As easy it is for us to draw information from the Internet, it is also easy for the public to post up information about a certain object.

So what's truth and whole lies?
For me if I were the check the authenticity of a particular news is by first check whether it is from a recognisable source (e.g National Geographic, Times..etc). These are definitely reliable sources. it's very important that words are able to fool us very easily; i mean after all what are lawyers for? So even though what is on a certain site might sound convincing, it might just be 10% truth and 90% lies.
But thanks to Google Scholar, I were to do research on a certain topic, the best way to get authentic research, I would get my information from there as it contains sites there are actually reliable.

So
It is a yes for me but from sites that are truly really reliable.

RUMORS HAS IT....

rumors??
some say its true...
and
some say its fake...
some believed..
and some are skeptic...

rumors are just like a story...
some are made up...
and some are real...
for us...
we easily get influenced on what the media said...

FOR EXAMPLE...

the image shown on the right...
its about an article that were made up by a kid...
the SON in the 1st,2nd and 3rd strip..
believed that the article is true...
but the FATHER in the 1st and 2nd strip is skeptic about the article...
and does not believed what is posted on the web-site...

when rumors spreads...
and people believed in it...
they say its true...
when others said its false...
we will be confused by the facts and the fictions...

SO WHICH IS WHICH???

to determine the answer...
some had donned research..
and published in medias...
which are TRUE...
they will state their names and what did they researched on based on reliable sources...

and which are FAKE...
they will write their own opinions and thinking about a certain topic...
and some does their homework...
and SPICE it all up to make their articles interesting...

so the decision is yours and yours alone...
either to believe or not...

Topic 4 - Erika Chong

"Rumors, lies and innuendo spread far, wide, and fast on the Internet." taken from "Introduction to Mass Communication: Media Literacy and Culture" by Stanley Baran, pg 324.

Today, the internet is 'far and wide'. Anyone from anywhere can create something and make it look so real. However, it is up to us to believe it or not.

In my own experience, I would chose to read news from a few perspective before building up a story in my head.
For example:
News: Economy downfall
Resources: [CNN.com] India's fault
[NYtimes.com] Oil's fault
[Star.com.my] US' fault
[Berita Harian] Malaysia bribing issue's fault

Everyone has a different opinion on current issues but it is up to us to believe who's side of the story.

3rd week: " Real Bad Arabs"

Hollywood is one place you can definitely say that it's a place where everything and anything goes. The voice of Hollywood is so strong that whatever that say will be. If Hollywood was a weapon(literally), I bet most of the people in the world would be that by now.

I think one of those categories of people that Hollywood stereotype are the blonds (ladies). In a lot of movies, blond girls/ lady are view or characterised as being stupid. Having the looks but not the brains. And all they know what to do is to flirt their way through their social life. A nobody. However this is not entirely true about them. We got famous smart blond ladies like Hillary Clinton.

So next wanna stereotype someone or a group of people...think again.

Disscusion about Reel Bad Arab

From your personal experiences and research, what other media stereotypes (besides the example from the documentary "Reel Bad Arabs") have you seen either on TV, magazines or in the movies?

From my experience and research,I think this video from hollywood made a bad impression on Arabs. In movie, example, the movie “Raiden of the Last ark”give impression for people that the arabian is weak person. We can look that arabian want fight the english man.And suddenly, the english man fire that arabian man.Beside that, the “cobbobal run” can give impression for people that arabian people is a moluster or the other mean is like sexual. In my knowledge, the arabian does not have this kind of attitude. The another movie, the “True Lies” actor by Arnold Schwarzenegger.I look this movie and I think the hollywood want give impression for people that arabian is a terrorist. So why they do this??maybe that people create the movie is rasict.
Not the movie, magazine also give effect for people. In the magazine,we can look some model/artist wear a sexy clothe and attract some man.Maybe playboy magazine. But,the effect for this magazine can give some experiece for people to follow that magazine.

3rd Topic Discussion - Erika Chong

From your personal experiences and research, what other media stereotypes (besides the example from the documentary "Reel Bad Arabs") have you seen either on TV, magazines or in the movies?

Hollywood has been one of the greatest murderers of the decade, for killing good images of asians in their movies. As I watched the documentary, it reminds me of how much Hollywood has influenced people across the world to lose their own culture due to attracted to this Hollywood culture.

Not only from Hollywood, but from magazines too. In the magazines, we can see everyday models wear less clothe day by day. But do we need to follow them? Fashion is one thing, wanna-be is another story to tell.

From television, we see movies where people have sex before marriage, man have another woman other than his wife and etc. I believe all these movies are a great factor to leading higher abortion rate and divorce rate. People tend to have a 'it is ok' mindset.

Therefore, everyone should know what is on the TV or in the movies aren't exactly what it is like in reality. In reality, you need to work hard to get what you want, and fairy tales aren't true.
