bloggers + journalists = ???

bloggers and journalists is the same thing... or is it??? lets find out...

from what i known about bloggers...they like to write things in their blogs, mostly about their experiences, feelings, current updates on people...
bloggers are almost 80% are between the range of 13 years old to an certain old age most probably 30-50 plus... WHILE journalists... they are between the range of 20 years old to who knows when...
journalists cover up the rest.. JOURNALIST = 20% BLOGGERS = 80%

So... most of the people have a certain confusion between bloggers... why is that.?? similarly both bloggers and journalists did the same thing.. that they write or type on certain activities...

BLOGGERS; from what i've known...
they are less formal in writing and publishing in public(web-sites).. plus adding some features in their blogs to attract people to read them...
some bloggers extent their language, the ambiance of the blog, some musics etc...
to give readers feel what are the author felt...
SOME BLOGGERS ARE SENTIMENTAL...

JOURNALISTS; in another perspective... journalists are contrasts of bloggers...
so when there is a contrast.. there must be opposites...
for a journalist; they work... their works are formal towards their professionalism which means that... they are working on a certain company... journalists takes notes on what's happening to the changing world... ranging from technology to natural disasters... some of them risks their lives for their job...
so...
MOST JOURNALISTS ARE RISK-TAKERS...

but there is one common attribute from both BLOGGERS and JOURNALISTS had...
is their PASSION TO ENTERTAIN THE WORLD FOR GOOD AND WORSE...

Are bloggers journalist? - Marilyn Loh

ARE BLOGGERS JOURNALISTS??

Some may say yes and some may say No! Journalist writes about news, ad's, for the media and get paid for what they're doing! While some bloggers writes about their daily lives. But if a blogger would want to blog and have their own point of view about politics, and about those sensitive issues, they should be prepared to accept legal responsibility.

Blogging is like a new way of writing, I noticed that many teenagers or young adults start to have their own personal blog to express their feelings are to share the world about their daily lives. Some even have blogs to advertise their product!

Are bloggers and journalist in the same levels? I don't think so. Even tough, they both produce the same product and content! Journalist has a cert, and they are paid to do so, and its thier job. As for bloggers, they write just because they want to.

While, I'm not surprise many bloggers claim themselves as a blogger. They said, they have equal rights as the journalist. Many disagree, by saying bloggers is not journalist in any stretch!
Nowadays, when we ask whether someone is a journalist, we may need to refine the question. We should ask: Is this kind of journalist who presents analysis, commentary, or political rants? Or, is this the kind of journalist who offers the fruits of reporting? Or some of both? The issue is not the job title but the activity.

So who the hell you think you are? You are just a blogger!

I read one of the link that were given and i find it rather interesting. So here's what the whole buzz is all about..
Three bloggers are being filed a lawsuit from Apple because they have leaked out information about a certain product called " Asteroid". They felt that these bloggers weren't given any right to do so because they weren't journalist or in my opinion they thought those bloggers weren't legal..

But on the other hand I feel like they were just furious about want those bloggers have done. I mean leaking out information about your future product means giving an advantage to your competitors to do something about it like coming out with a better and greater product making yours not so special anymore. Not only that if what those bloggers have said were rumors what go through all the hustle to bring this issue to court. Or why bother about some rumours by some bloggers that aren't true..Is the world going to believe them? After all Apple can just release a statement to the press that those rumours are not true...

So back to the question of the week..
Are Bloggers Journalists?

Well it DEPENDS..
If you are blogging about your own life and how it has been, its basically just an online dairy for you and your readers/followers to read.

However if you are blogging about world events or event happening around your neighbourhood or even just about little significance about special moments happening around you like some school event or your parents anniversary...in my opinion you are a journalist(legal or not) in your very own right.

Going back to the buss above.. being filed a lawsuit, I guess those bloggers have brought it upon themselves after all who were they in any rights to publish a blog post about something a company is going to bring to the market? It definitely feels like violation to privacy to me.

Ok, so in my own opinion again i think that the second type of bloggers i have mentioned are journalist in their own way is because they are 'reporting an event' to inform their readers. Not just any event but event that is actually not all about them. Some 'report useful information that are very helpful for us. For example politics and world events, the government and the opposition always tells us what they want use to hear and to manipulate us. And it is always very useful to hear from everyday people like and to know what is their take on the issue after all isn't it what the politicians want which is "what's best for people"?

However it is it of the utmost importance that we know who are are reading from as many people could use their blogs to publish false information and create chaos and confusion.
So i think as much as it will still happen i believe that people should abuse the media and be grateful that we are able to voice out our opinions quite freely and not like some other nations that will band any form of media to prevent any opinions to be voiced out.

Are Bloggers Journalists? -Erika Chong

ARE BLOGGERS JOURNALISTS? What is your take on this?

Depending on what kind of blogger.

1. Some people blog about their daily lives, their conflicts with other people and their daily outings.
2. Some people blog about society problems, health issues, their politic stand and education with proper language.
3. Some people blog like the second group of people, without the proper language.

To me, bloggers in the second group ARE journalists. Why?
Because they blog about things concerning humanity in a proper way.
They are reporting their experience with things in the society.

On the other hand, people in the first group I do not consider them as journalists, simply because they are writing a diary; while people in the third group can be totally ignored for wasting time blabbering about second hand news.

ɐıpǝɯ lɐıɔos

media socialization is one of a fraction of our daily lives. the creation of online social public media like FACEBOOK, MYSPACE, BLOGSPOT, etc; bring us humans to mingle around online...
for instance, we have these online pages ( facebook, myspace, etc. ) to express our feelings and so on.. can you imagine if we had to express our feeling where no one listens, especially to our parents.. we teens do not like to tell our feelings towards our parents and they tend to disagreeing apon agreeing..
so what do we do?? we got myspace, we got facebook, and bla..bla..bla... we share feelings through those social based media.. so our peers would understand what and how we felt...

please comment this..

Social Media- Marilyn Loh

In the current world, social media does play a very important role in one's life. Being able to connect and communicate with one another virtually through the social media context does wonders as it saves time and also money. It facilitates conversations and interaction among the people throughout the country.

Twitter. Facebook. Myspace. These are all examples of social media, and I bet as soon as you hear these words, you can add at least another three sites to the list off the top of your head. Social Media is fun and it caught every one's attention. Thanks to social media, it's now so convenient to share our interest, photos, ideas, thoughts and what you like or dislike to the world. Thats not all, by using social media you can search for jobs, business partners and more. Do you believe that you can use facebook to spread your current business. How? Simple. If you already have a personal facebook account, create a Facebook Fan Page. There you go. It'll spread as fast as a thunder. Not only that, it saves cost too.

People tend to have the perception that social media is a ground where people socialise and connect but i feel that using social media we are able to practise good networking. It is known as an important networking tool. For business people, if they are able to use it wisely, it would lift them heaps and bounds. It is not only about sharing but also creating something for others to participate in.

How does media culture affects me?
I admit that media culture shot me right on my forehead. It definitely caught my attention. If it wasn't all these, I don't think I'll be able to contact my friends and family overseas. Plus, Facebook is awesome, because without it, I wouldn't remember half of my friends birthday, Great reminders.

Technology+Socialogy= SOCIAL MEDIA

"Social Media" the new phenomenon

I think for me...one of the best things about being born and living through this century is that I get to experience and observe how the media from just newspapers and radio stations has now started to take on a very major important world in our life. Now don't get me wrong..it's not that our parents aren't able to live through it but its rather that we(our generation) are able to see the growth of our media and especially the Internet at a very young age. Which means there are allot more for us to see before we move on!

How does it affect me?
well personally I can really relate to the video because there is so many things in the world offering the same thing and it's very crucial for us as consumers to know what is best for us. And that's why upon reflecting, I do see how other consumers rate a particular product and people's comments concerning that product. Because we all have the goal in mind which is to get the best and at the best price.

How does it affect the people around me?
I guess the new " Social Media" phenomenon has also affect them like how it has affected me. In the sense that, they too has also become more critical in their thinking. Instead on relying on their own judgement, they to now tend to gather opinions from friends and the Internet and ratings from others who know the real deal. One great example for me would definitely be my mom. Last time, when she shops for a handphone it was so much more easier for her than now because now, she wants to check and research about which brand is the longer lasting one and which style suits her or which one is value for money. So yea that's about it from me

Social Media - Erika Chong

Social media has become one of the greatest impact in history. It has been more than a decade since it started way back in 1997 where sixdegree.com first introduced social networking profiles. This has been the greatest revolution since the Industrial Revolution. It has taken over porn as the number 1 activity on the internet.

Social media took years to hit 50 million users while radio took 38 years! The difference in number truly shows how great the impact is on the younger generation. 96% of the children who has internet access owns a social networking profile, be it Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Friendster or whatever else.

It has greatly impacted my life and friends around me. For example: A friend of mine can sit in front of a social networking website for hours busy doing nothing while he can do his homework, play football, go out for a movie and such. Yet he rather sit in front of the computer all day long viewing his friends' profiles and browsing through their updates.
A great lesson for me: Social networking sites are not supposed to take away your life. Some people even say it is better than sex!

Another good friend of mine, married, had 2 kids and they led a wonderful life. They live in Batu Pahat and they used to go for family picnic every weekend. However, since she got a hold of social networking sites, specifically Facebook, she abandoned her chores, her children, her husband and her life. She is currently going through a divorce.

As for myself, I started using social networking sites since 2004. That was when Friendster was still a big hit. I used it as how it was made to be, checking what my friends are doing, leaving comments, updating my profile and etc. It hasn't made quite much of a negative impact on me, yet, but I wouldn't want to imagine how dull my life would be now without it. It is indirectly a source of entertainment for me.
I would rather contact a friend on the phone than to talk to them on Facebook.

In the virtual world, anything can be real. We never know what is a person really thinking or what they really thought about you. I can be really good friend with you on the net but we never talked when we meet in class. Its ridiculous right?

Social networking, a place to increase your self confidence? In my case, yes.
For some other people, not quite, as the example given above.

Hopefully social media is used to the maximum with the minimum damage towards mankind.
